The Monthly Favourites That Helped my Skin Bounce Back
After being sick all month, my skin was left dull and dehydrated. Here’s how I got my skin glowing again.
There I was thinking I was going to give you a completely new list of favourites, to quickly realise some comfort picks did sneak in.
This month has been a bit special (not in the good way) due to having my second bout of COVID in three months.
Here’s your friendly reminder to get your booster shot and flu shot. You can book a shot here at Priceline)
My skin has absolutely been through it this past month- not just from being a bit extra dehydrated, inflamed, and stressed- but also from not having the energy to be diligent to my routine.
Being acne prone means that when I don't do my skincare, I break out.
If you're new here- Hi! My name is Minnie, I'm acne prone- ha.
These are my monthly favourites that have been helping keep me sane.
Dermal Therapy Overnight Face Repair, $15.40
Shop: Dermal Therapy Overnight Face Repair, $15.40 from Chemist Warehouse
Oh my gosh, what an absolutely gorgeous, fantastic product.
This is following on from the very well-earned hype and cult status of their Overnight Lip Sleeping Mask which has people absolutely hooked.
The Overnight Face Repair has a gorgeous melt into the skin texture that feels quite intensely light for the richness that it's delivering to the skin.
Urea is having a very well-deserved moment in the spot light, and Dermal Therapy, as always, has been extremely early to the game in introducing usually hard-to-find ingredients formulated extremely elegantly in skincare.

I'm also such a softie for their Acne Control Range, especially their Acne Spot Cream, because of their use of Colloidal Sulfur in such an elegant way that honestly wasn't on the market when it first came out and I still haven't seen anything near comparable.
In a similar fashion, Dermal Therapy is using Urea to gently exfoliate dead skin cells in the Overnight Face Repair.
The scent? It’s lovely. The Japanese honeysuckle scent elevates the experience quite a lot.
I could definitely see that trendy style of campaign with this product being in a $600 jar and then they'd be like, “Actually it's Dermal Therapy!” You know that type of ad?
You can snag this for about $16 just genuinely makes me happy and excited that products that are innovative and affordable are still coming onto the market.
biobod Replenishing Hydra-Soothe Serum, $65.00
Shop: biobod Replenishing Hydra-Soothe Serum, $65.00 from the biobod website
Biobod's new to me.
I had to wait till my skin calmed down a little bit to introduce some more products the other month, and this was a really good transition because not only is it hydrating, you guessed it, it's soothing! (Hence the name).
It's a very weightless formulation that is oil-free but is introducing quite a lot of juiciness.
It has both pre- and post-biotics, which are all about rebalancing the skin's microbiome.
For hydration? It has the classic Hyaluronic Acid + Sodium PCA blend that we have all grown to love.
Extras? It also has Centella Asiatica, Aloe and Green tea which just makes such a lovely well-rounded gorgeous product.
Plus it's 50ml not 30ml which I just think is absolutely fantastic as well.
Such a well-thought-out product that is really focused on giving the user long-term skin results, long-term use.
I think it's well worth its price and the fact that it's women-owned in Aussie is just such a fabulous thing that we have something so special coming out of Australia.
These are the sort of things that I get really excited about (as you can probably tell).
tbh Skincare Acne Hack Spot Treatment, $29.95
Shop: tbh Skincare Acne Hack Spot Treatment, $29.95 from Adore Beauty
I did experience some breakouts from not being really on top of my routine.
There were many days that I only did one set of skincare at night before bed (if I could manage). The Tbh Acne Hack Spot treatment definitely kicked down a lot of those fussy blemishes that would pop up.
If you haven't tried it yet and you’re spot prone, I really encourage you to.
If you're a bit apprehensive? The spot treatment does go 40% off at Coles semi-ish often so keep an eye out for that.

BYOMA Liptide Lip Mask, $20.00
Shop: BYOMA Liptide Lip Mask, $20.00 from Sephora Online
A very new one (for me, and in Australia) is the Byoma LipTide Lip Mask.
It's not a lip sleeping mask- and I keep jumbling my words because I keep wanting to say- it can be used as one though- but it actually deposits less product than a traditional lip sleeping mask because it's a bit of a hybrid that you can use throughout the day.

The lip mask has a large doe-foot applicator that doesn’t pick up a high amount of product.
The packaging is very ergonomic, and I find with lip products I'm very invested in how it feels to hold due to the need to reapply throughout the day.
Even though I have fallen in love with many pot-based lip products they're not my favourite to use because of the mess and need for clean hands.
The fact it comes in at $20 (and I got it a further 20% off at the Sephora sale) does make me extra happy.
The scent? It's got a light vanilla/fairy floss scent- but it doesn't smell overly intensely like some lip products do.
Completely non-sticky and it applies very well- When I'm using it at night or when I need an extra moisture boost I do two dip ins. I think this is a huge win!
Go-To Clarifying Face Hero, $56.00
Shop: Go-To Clarifying Face Hero, $56.00 at MECCA
The Go-To Clarifying Face Hero is a long-time favourite. I've been using it since it came into my routine.
I love the smell, I love the feel and I love the results- but it's been extra appreciated this month when my skin has been dehydrated and grumpy with me.
It's been that relaxing experiential step that brings a lot of relief to my skin, and also works to clarify any congestion that I battle when I’m not being on top of my skincare.
We're all human.
